Bisheh Waterfall is one of the most famous and breathtaking natural attractions in Iran, situated in the heart of the majestic Zagros Mountains. It is affectionately known as the “Bride of Lorestan” province due to its stunning beauty and picturesque location.

 

1.Location and Features

  •  Location: Bisheh Village, Khorramabad County, Lorestan Province, Iran.
  • Height: Approximately 48 meters (157 feet), with some sources listing up to 60 meters.
  • Width: The cascade is about 10 meters wide where it joins the river.
  • Source: The water is supplied by numerous natural springs at the top of the waterfall.
  • River: The water falls into the Sezar River (a tributary of the Dez River) below.
  • Surroundings: Surrounded by dense Oak forests, rugged mountains, and the charming Bisheh village.

 

2.Unique Access via Railway

Uniquely accessible via both road and the national railway. The waterfall is adjacent to the Bisheh Train Station on the Tehran-Khuzestan line, which is considered one of the most scenic railway routes in Iran.

 

3.      Tourism and Activities

  • Significance: Registered as a National Natural Heritage Site of Iran in 2008.
  • Best Time to Visit: Spring and early summer, when the water flow is at its peak and the surrounding nature is at its greenest.
  • Facilities: The area is developed for tourism, offering picnic spots, accommodations, and local markets.
