Zarei: 61 Airborne Bird Catching Nets Collected in Mazandaran

Abbas Zarei, in an interview with Mehrnews, detailed the recent actions taken by the Environmental Protection Unit of Mazandaran. He stated that during patrols and operations, agents successfully discovered and seized 40 legal and illegal hunting firearms in the counties of Babol, Babolsar, Amol, Mahmoudabad, Neka, Abbasabad, Kiasar, Savadkuh, Chalous, and Kelardasht. These discoveries also included wildlife shelters in Dasht Naz and Sameskandeh.

He continued, stating that during the same period, 61 aerial nets used for bird hunting, along with 44 net poles, were identified, collected, and destroyed. Additionally, two illegal hunter encampments in the Daboudasht area of Amol were dismantled, which has played a significant role in preventing the recurrence of violations.

The head of the Environmental Protection Unit of Mazandaran highlighted the wildlife-related discoveries, noting that the remains of 98 wild birds, including partridges and waterfowl, as well as the carcasses of five wild boars, three trout, and an illegal fishing device known as a “lancer” were confiscated. Zarei expressed gratitude for the continuous efforts of the province’s environmental guards and emphasized that legal and decisive action against violators in the areas of hunting, fishing, and the destruction of natural habitats will continue vigorously. He urged citizens to report any environmental violations they observe through the 1540 hotline to the Environmental Protection Unit.
