According to KhabarOnline, Brigadier General Reza Rastgar, the commander of the Environmental Protection Organization’s protection unit, stated that based on directives issued to environmental protection forces across the country, the likelihood of encountering wildlife in the vicinity of cities and villages has increased due to changing weather conditions and the onset of colder temperatures.
He added that in this context, environmental guards are monitoring the areas under their management around the clock with heightened vigilance and continuous patrols, aiming to protect animal species and prevent any illegal hunting activities by opportunistic individuals.
The commander emphasized the necessity of public cooperation and participation in the protection of the country’s natural resources, urging citizens to refrain from any unauthorized feeding of wildlife, as such actions could alter the natural behavior of animals and pose risks to both humans and animals.
He requested that the public report any sightings of wildlife near residential areas or any suspicious activities through the 1540 hotline or by informing the nearest environmental protection station.
Brigadier General Rastgar also highlighted the dangers of road travel during the winter season, advising drivers, especially on routes passing through protected areas, mountainous regions, and near natural habitats, to proceed with utmost caution and at a safe speed.
He stressed that road slipperiness, reduced visibility, and the potential for wildlife to suddenly cross the road could increase the risk of accidents. Therefore, maintaining a safe following distance, paying attention to warning signs regarding animal crossings, and avoiding speeding are essential.
