According to the Mehrnews, Kamran Pourmoghaddam stated on Tuesday evening during a brainstorming session on the quantitative and qualitative development of forest parks in northern Iran that the Hyrcanian forests, recognized as one of the country’s most valuable growth areas, possess extensive capacities in environmental and recreational domains that should be utilized within the framework of technical and managerial principles.
He noted the implementation of the “Forest Breathing” plan, adding that according to the initial plans, sustainable management was to be introduced after three years. However, due to various reasons, this initiative was not fully realized, and now the implementation of modern forestry management has become a necessity.
The head of the Forests Department at the Natural Resources Organization emphasized that Article 36 of the Seventh Development Plan underscores the importance of sustainable forest management. He stated that within this framework, the targeted use of recreational capacities and the development of forest parks can not only protect natural resources but also create economic opportunities for forest conservation.
Pourmoghaddam continued by explaining that the organization’s new approach involves leveraging the capabilities of the private sector and professional associations in formulating regulations and executing plans, as their participation can enhance management quality and facilitate operational processes.
He emphasized that creating a suitable environment for attracting private sector investment in forestry and forest parks is a priority, as this could strengthen the efforts for the protection, restoration, and enrichment of the northern forests of the country.
