According to KhabarOnline, Saeed Youssefpour stated that a six-year-old male leopard, which had been spotted in the northern area of Shahmirzad city in Semnan province over the past few nights, was captured alive to assess its health and ensure the safety of the region.
The Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency of Semnan province mentioned on Sunday, January 7, that this leopard, observed by local residents on the outskirts of Shahmirzad, was captured using scientific and standard methods by ecology experts and wildlife veterinarians due to its presence in an urban environment and reduced fear of humans.
He added that preliminary examinations indicate that the leopard is in good condition regarding its appearance, dental health, respiration, and heart rate. However, to ensure complete health, additional tests and, if necessary, diagnostic imaging will be conducted by specialists.
The Director General of the Environmental Protection Agency of Semnan province noted that the leopard is currently being housed in Semnan province, and a final decision regarding its release or further actions will be made after the completion of specialized assessments.
