According to KhabarOnline, based on forecasts from the Meteorological Organization, from the last week of June until the end of July, summer rainfall will primarily be limited to the northwest regions, parts of the northern Zagros, the northern strip of the country, and the Alborz heights, while other areas will not receive significant precipitation. In a report, Mehr stated that according to this forecast, temperatures in the southeast and southern regions of the country will be between one to three degrees Celsius above the long-term average until the end of June. The highest temperature increases are expected in the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan, Hormozgan, and southern Kerman. Conversely, parts of the northeast, southern central Alborz, and northern Persian Gulf will experience temperatures one to three degrees below normal.
The Meteorological Organization announced that the trend of rising temperatures will continue into the first week of July, with areas on both sides of the Zagros, from northwest to southwest, as well as the southeast of the country, experiencing temperatures between one to three degrees above normal. According to these forecasts, from mid-July until the end of the month, a positive temperature anomaly will prevail across most parts of the country, with average temperatures estimated to be one to two degrees higher than usual. Only regions located in the northern Alborz mountain range from east to west will experience temperatures close to normal.
In terms of precipitation, forecasts indicate that from June 25 to 31, scattered rainfall will occur in the northwest and parts of the northern Zagros. Additionally, in the first week of July, rainfall in some coastal areas of the Caspian Sea will be below normal, while other northern regions will experience normal levels of precipitation. Given the continuation of heat and reduced rainfall, the Meteorological Organization has emphasized the necessity of managing water and electricity consumption and has urged citizens to help preserve the country’s water resources by adhering to consumption patterns. Furthermore, preparedness to combat dust storms and mitigate damage to water and electricity networks has been deemed essential in the eastern, central, and southern regions of the country.
The organization has also advised farmers in the northern and northwestern regions to postpone pesticide spraying operations to days without rainfall and to take measures to clean drainage systems. In other areas, irrigation of farms and gardens should be carried out during the cooler hours of the day.
