Voria Mohammadi stated in an interview with Mehrnews that, considering the rising temperatures, the dryness of vegetation, and the increased likelihood of fires during the hot season, a firebreak measuring 6 kilometers has been constructed in the forested heights of the villages of Qamishle, Anjiran, and Gagel in this county.

He added that this operation was carried out using a 6-cylinder tractor and in collaboration with the Marivan County Governor’s Office, the Sheri Shou District Office, and the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of the county, in line with the directives of the provincial Natural Resources Director.

The head of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Marivan County emphasized that the construction of firebreaks is one of the important preventive measures to combat wildfires in natural areas. He continued that the creation of this protective path aims to prevent the potential spread of fire and to limit the extent of wildfires in the region’s forests and pastures, which can slow the advance of flames during a fire and facilitate containment efforts by operational forces.

He underscored the necessity of preserving forests and pastures as valuable natural assets and expressed gratitude for the cooperation of executive agencies in implementing this project. He stated that the protection of natural areas cannot be achieved solely through government actions, and public participation in this regard is of great importance.

The head of the Natural Resources and Watershed Management Department of Marivan County urged citizens, tourists, and local beneficiaries to adhere to safety guidelines, refrain from lighting fires in nature, and report any sightings of fire to emergency services and relevant authorities as quickly as possible to prevent the spread of fire and damage to natural resources.
