Shahram Azarpey, in an interview with Mehrnews, referred to the unveiling and installation of the statue of the Aphanis fish from Isfahan at the entrance of Hasanabad, a district of Jarguyeh, which took place simultaneously with National Environment Week. He emphasized the importance of protecting this valuable species and stated: “The Aphanis fish from Isfahan is a remnant from the Oligocene and Jurassic periods. While dinosaurs became extinct, this fish has managed to survive until today; however, unfortunately, humans are on the verge of destroying it.”
He added that the installation of this statue is a lasting and thoughtful action that can serve as a model for the younger generation to become more sensitive to the protection of endangered species. The governor of Jarguyeh noted: “This species is not only important at the county and Isfahan province levels but also nationally, and its revival can symbolize rebirth and regeneration in nature.”
Azarpey stressed that the protection of the Aphanis fish should not be limited to just one species but should extend to other endangered plant and animal species as well, in order to maintain a complete and sustainable environmental cycle. He further stated: “This initiative in Hasanabad Jarguyeh is considered one of the symbolic and foundational actions in the field of environment, which will be recorded in the urban management record of this region.”
