According to the Mehrnews, Reza Jamshidi Sarsari stated on Wednesday afternoon, during the release ceremony of 1.2 million juvenile white fish into the Lamir River, that the protection of natural resources and valuable aquatic reserves requires the participation of all executive agencies, fishermen, and the public. He emphasized that the implementation of such initiatives plays a significant role in the sustainability of the Caspian Sea ecosystem.
He pointed out that illegal fishing and excessive harvesting in recent years have caused considerable damage to aquatic reserves. He added that through the efforts of the Department of Environmental Protection and the Fisheries Department of the district, 1.2 million juvenile white fish, with an average weight of one gram, which were bred at the Shahid Ansari RASHT Aquatic Resource Breeding and Restoration Center, were transported by trucks equipped with water tanks to the Lamir River and released.
The governor of Talesh regarded this action as an effective step in restoring the natural reserves of Caspian Sea fish, stating that the release of juvenile fish not only aids in preserving biodiversity but can also lead to an increase in harvestable stocks and improve the economic situation of the local fishing community in the coming years.
Jamshidi Sarsari emphasized the necessity of protecting the rivers leading to the Caspian Sea, asserting that maintaining water quality, preventing river pollution, and combating illegal fishing are among the most crucial factors for the success of aquatic resource restoration projects. In this regard, cooperation among responsible agencies and public participation is essential.
He also urged citizens and environmental enthusiasts to assist responsible agencies in protecting the region’s natural assets by reporting any violations related to illegal fishing. According to the Mehrnews, the Lamir River is one of the important rivers in the western Gilan province for the migration and natural spawning of Caspian Sea bony fish, and each year, part of the aquatic resource restoration programs is implemented in this river.
Experts believe that the continuation of these programs, alongside habitat protection and combating illegal fishing, will play a significant role in preserving the population of valuable Caspian Sea fish.
